Progress Report 2021

Blanchardstown Hospital Society is delighted to have been able to assist Connolly Hospital to enhance facilities, purchase equipment and furniture and enable fundraising for the benefit of patients and their families. We have liaised with and built up a good working relationship with the General Manager, Operations Manager, Estates Department, various CNMs, Managers and various departments throughout the hospital. These projects have been cost neutral to the Hospital.

Some notable purchases

Local community Support

We’re grateful to our friends and sponsors in the corporate world for their continued support to the society. It’s given without fuss and with immense generosity. We would especially like to acknowledge the local businesses who have, often at short notice, given of their time, product and resources to help us in our fundraising initiatives. The Society is truly thankful to you all, in equal measure.

We supported International Nurses Day in May and Daisy Awards Day in December and secured donations of cinnamon buns from Cuisine de France and doughnuts from Krispy Kreme.

Thanks to local businesses who donated toiletries and products for patient comforts – Chemist Warehouse and Lidl at Blanchardstown Shopping Centre, Aldi at Clonee and Nail Fashion Academy have donated toiletries and hand care products for patients at Woodlands, Sycamore and Silverbirch and throughout our hospital which were distributed by the Social Work Dept. Thanks also to Justin’s in Blanchardstown who provided us, at very short notice, with Christmas Trees for the Hospital Grounds and a wide selection of flowers for numerous departments within the Hospital.

Thanks also Localise and Colaiste Pobail Setanta for their liaison and input into our ‘Care for our Carers’ project.

Thanks to The Hospital Manager, Operations Manager and our GDPR/Legal Team who helped us to coordinate and correlate information relating to graves refurbishment at Mulhuddart. This project will be completed in 2022. We continue to assist with an application for Lottery Funding for an End-of-Life Sculpture project.

We will continue to champion these friends of the Society by acknowledging and promoting them at every possible opportunity on our Social Media outlets.

Cheers Noel!

As Noel heads off in to the retirement sunset, read some kind words from his friend and long time colleague Mick Roban.

A terrific day's fun onsite, with friends and colleagues working together by cycling to raise funds for the society.

Check your balls!

Amazing story from David Buckley. What he thought was just a "bang" in training turned into something more serious.

Dashers

DASH will donate funds raised between 10am and 12pm every Sunday to the week’s chosen cause.

AWS In Communities

We are deeply indebted to our friends at AWS In Communities for its tireless support of the Society. In the last year it has contributed hugely to three major projects. One infrastructural, one physical and one virtual.

AWS In Communities kindly provided desks and other essential office equipment to the hospital. The Society oversaw the collection and allocation of these items throughout the Hospital Campus.

AWS In Communities was the driving force and generous benefactor that enabled the Society to orchestrate and coordinate the installation of the new gate at Mill Road. It also facilitated the clean-up of the general area and exterior of the Gate Lodge The €18,000 in Project Costs was borne entirely by AWS In Communities.

Provided funding for our new Internet presence, allowing us to create a new interactive site and to introduce and maintain our Social Media channels.

Vodafone Ireland

Thank you to Aisling Dalton and Vodafone Ireland who organised free Wifi and smartphones for Connolly Hospital, at the behest of Blanchardstown Hospital Society. This was a service that was urgently required at the time.

With the advent of the Covid 19 pandemic,  restrictions to visiting caused patients to miss their loved ones.

Aisling and Vodafone Ireland came to the rescue by providing the necessary infrastructure for our patients to speak and virtually visit with their friends and family. this was a great enhancement to the patient care experience at Connolly Hospital during extremely challenging times.

ProofPro Ireland

In March 2021, Blanchardstown Hospital Society sourced and secured the services of ProofPro Ireland to be its Internet Partner.

Since then, we have developed an excellent working relationship, with ProofPro providing consultancy and media work to the Society.

We have created our website and our Social Media outlets, enabling us to promote our brand to a wider audience, letting those who may not previously have been aware of the Society’s work see the Services we provide to the Hospital.

Littlewoods Ireland

A huge thanks to Littlewood’s Ireland, who have long been great supporters of the Society’s work.

This year, as well as donating some outstanding prizes for numerous events throughout the year, it has also provided a wealth of technical and other devices and appliances, which have been deployed across the Hospital Campus, making both our patients’ and colleagues’ lives that little bit easier.
